Astronaut Sweets began in January 2023. Throughout the last year, we made some pretty sweet gifts and received so many requests from friends and family to purchase the freeze-dried candies we made, that we realized our obsession isn’t just our’s alone. What is freeze-drying? Check out the section below.
Nerd Talk warning!
Freeze drying is the process of removing all of the moisture (through sublimation) of an object while under an incredible vacuum, this process fundamentally changes the texture and flavors of the freeze-dried items, but only with candies! Most candies swell up, such as our Neptune Rings, getting over two or three times as large! At the end of the process, a once gummy texture has been changed into a crunchy bite of peach! Normal foods don’t expand in this way and remain relatively unchanged by the freeze-drying process.
Who is Astronaut Sweets?
John and Carly run Astronaut Sweets along with their Chief Taste Tester, Lincoln, and Associate Taste Tester (in training) Calvin. Lincoln and Calvin also help with video advertising from time to time, although they aren’t quite ready for speaking roles, yet! 🙂
